Not sold on online therapy?

Updated: Jul 1, 2022

It's understandable that some people are unsure about online therapy.

To be honest I hadn't really embraced it until C🦠VID reared its ugly head.

Now I work predominantly online.

Because in my experience the outcomes are pretty epic!

And it's not just me saying it!

Several studies from around the world, including ones from the US’s Northwestern University and Germany’s Leipzig University (both in 2014) suggest that online therapy is just as effective as face-to-face work for clients, especially longer-term.

Why?

Comfort - For the therapy to flow effectively, it's important you feel at ease in your environment. There’s nothing more comfortable than being in the place where you want to be.

Accessibility - You can access therapy anywhere that has WiFi. From your home, while you are on holiday, I even have clients who have lunchtime sessions from their cars.

Ease of sharing and sometimes quicker results - Some people find it easier to share information online rather than face to face. The comfort of being behind a screen can remove barriers to openness that would otherwise slow down traditional therapy.

Privacy - There is no chance of seeing people you know on the way to therapy.

Additionally, if you are struggling with anxiety, especially social anxiety, you are more likely to continue therapy.

And I can't stress enough the importance of continuity when it comes to therapy.

At HeadQuarters Counselling Services we offer online sessions for all of our services.
