COUPLES AND FAMILIES

Support to help you strengthen connection, improve communication and navigate challenges together.

We provide relationship counselling in Perth, supporting adults and families across Western Australia.

While we are based in Perth, we also support clients across Australia and internationally through secure online counselling.

Every relationship is unique. Different backgrounds, personalities, communication styles and value systems can make relationships incredibly rewarding — and sometimes incredibly challenging. Counselling gives you and your partner (or family) a space to slow down, understand what’s happening underneath the surface, and learn practical tools to help you build a more connected, supportive relationship.

We can help you and your partner:

  • Improve communication

  • Manage conflict in healthier ways

  • Cope with stressors that impact the relationship

  • Increase emotional intimacy

  • Reduce criticism, defensiveness and blaming

  • Identify and nurture your relationship strengths

If you’re unsure where to begin, we offer a FREE 15‑minute Mental Health Wellness Call — a quick chat with a qualified counsellor to explore what’s going on and how we can support you.

HOW CAN RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING HELP?

Healthy relationships can have a profoundly positive impact on your wellbeing. When things are going well, relationships can bring stability, joy, confidence and a sense of being understood. But when problems start to build — whether slowly over time or suddenly — it can affect everything: your mood, your self‑esteem, your stress levels and your ability to enjoy life.

Relationship counselling helps you understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what needs to change.

Common concerns we support include:

  • Communication issues

  • Loss of intimacy or connection

  • Honesty and transparency difficulties

  • Trust issues

  • Infidelity

  • Blended or extended family challenges

Decades of research show that with the right therapeutic support, couples can work through significant challenges and rebuild closeness, communication and commitment. These are the foundations of genuine intimacy.

Our Creating Intimacy program has helped more than 100 couples reconnect with each other — rebuilding trust, respect, passion and understanding.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A SESSION?

It’s completely normal to feel nervous about relationship counselling — especially if it’s your first time. Many couples worry that therapy will feel biased, confrontational or uncomfortable. Our approach is the opposite: grounded, balanced, and focused on helping both partners feel heard and supported.

Sessions often include a blend of joint and individual appointments. This allows us to understand each person’s communication style, emotional patterns and relationship needs — both as individuals and as a couple.

The goal is not to “take sides”.

It’s to help you understand each other more clearly and work together toward a healthier, more connected relationship.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Real change takes consistency — not perfection, not intensity, just steady support over time.

Most people find that meaningful improvements happen when they work closely with a therapist who can help them:

  • Notice patterns that aren’t serving them

  • See things they might not be able to see on their own

  • Build a clear, practical plan for moving forward

While single sessions are available, our experience has shown that clients get the best results with 6 to 8 sessions. It gives you enough time to understand what’s going on, practise new skills, and actually see the changes show up in your everyday life.

Think of it like looking after your physical health — you wouldn’t brush your teeth three times a year and expect perfect dental health. Emotional wellbeing works the same way. One‑off support can help in the moment, but consistent support creates lasting change.

To make regular therapy more accessible, we offer AfterPay for packaged sessions, giving more people the opportunity to experience the benefits of structured, ongoing support.

I’VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE – WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Reaching out is usually the hardest part.

You might feel unsure, nervous, or worried about what counselling will involve. That’s completely normal. We’re here to make the process as easy and stress‑free as possible.

When you contact us, we’ll:

  • Recommend counselling options that fit your needs

  • Answer any questions you have

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you reach out — that’s what we’re here to help with.
